7 Ways to Hide the Smell of Weed

Everyone’s picked up their own trick to hiding the smell of their weed. Whether you were trying to hide the smell from your parents, or just want to be considerate to people in public spaces, here are 7 options to cover up the smell of weed before and after you smoke.

1. Smoke outside

This isn’t guaranteed to get rid of the smell entirely, but it definitely beats reeking of weed after hotboxing in your friend’s sedan.

2. Keep it in a mason jar

Nobody wants their whole apartment to smell like weed all the time. Try using a mason jar or other airtight container that’ll keep the smell in. You can do this with unfinished roaches too, but be careful not to store everything in the same jar - it’ll make the rest of your herb taste old and burnt. Personally, I like to have separate mason jars for different strains of weed.

3. Smoke out of a bowl

Joints and blunts are going to create the most pungent smells, since they both involve burning paper. Plus, the weed is just constantly burning, which makes the smell more obvious. If you’re smoking alone, using a bowl also allows you to smoke at your own pace without wasting any of your weed. Visit your local smoke shop and find a small piece of glassware or one-hitter you can carry around with you.

4. Carry it in a plastic bottle

This is a solution if you’re carrying a little reefer while you’re out and about. You can use an empty bottle, preferably one that’s made with a thicker plastic, which will be better at hiding the smell. Put the bottle in a backpack, and you’re ready to go!

5. Consider switching to a wax pen or vape

If you like smoking your weed while taking a walk watching a sunset, you might want to switch to a wax pen. Since you’re not burning anything, there’s virtually no smell associated with it. There are also plenty of options for dry herb vapes on the market nowadays, from simple hand-helds to ones that require you to set up on a table and plug in to an outlet.

6. Roll before you roll

Before you go out, roll a couple of joints and pack them inside an empty pre-roll container so they don’t get crushed. Carrying them around already rolled prevents the smell from getting out. Plus, you don’t have to worry about having to roll a joint on the spot!

7. Douse yourself with Axe body spray

This is an age-old, simple trick that works every time. I’ve never been able to smell weed on any of my friends after doing this. Simply douse yourself with an entire bottle of Axe body spray after lighting up and go about your day! Try mixing up the scents for some extra cover.
