5 Youtube Deep Cuts to Watch When You're Stoned

With the amount of television, movies and youtube videos accessible at all times to us it can be hard to find something that perfectly fits your post-joint mood. I know I’ve definitely sat there slack-jawed and red-eyed scrolling through all my apps looking for my ideal stoned viewing experience so here are a few of my favorites to keep you entertained and not blow your buzz scrolling.

1. Adult Swim Infomercials: Broomshakalaka (Youtube)

As a kid I loved sneaking out of bed to watch something way too inappropriate for my child's brain on Adult Swim and that of night late programming has only deepened now that I can enjoy it the way it was intended, stoned out of my mind. If you’ve never seen them I’d recommend basically all of the Adult Swim Infomercials but Broomshakalaka is a real hero’s journey and is surprisingly star-starred. Starring Randall Park who you may remember as Kim Jong-un from the Seth Rogen Movie The Interview and astonishingly directed by the now Oscar-winning director duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert of Everything, Everywhere, All At Once

2. Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job: Celery Man (Youtube)

Tim and Eric have nothing but great content for stoners but sometimes you can’t commit to a whole episode if you want to experience just a taste of the bizarre intensely quotable duo check out Paul Rudd going to town on Paul Rudd in Celeryman.

3. Chad Vangaalen - Peace on the Rise (YOUTUBE)

If the vibe you’re looking for is less ridiculous sketch and more trippy as hell music video Chad Vangaalen is your man. He’s a Canadian multi-instrumentalist musician who hand-animates all of his insane music videos. Watching strange creatures, plants, and landscapes melt into one another will take your high from a 5 to 10 easily just be prepared for the incredibly haunting feeling these will leave you with.

4. Summoning Salt: World Record Progression: Super Mario 64 - 120 star (Youtube)

Alright, this one might not be for everyone but I love this guy. If you wanna learn a lot of information about an incredible niche subject you were previously aware of this guy is the move. Summoning Salt does lofi documentary-style videos about classic video game speedrunning. For the unaware speedrunning is a form of gaming competition where you attempt to complete a game as fast as possible. This channel will have you invested in kinds of community drama you were never even aware of. The style and editing makes it all totally enrapturing when you’re in a sensitive and stoned state.

5. Kurzgesagt: The Fermi Paradox Part 1 & 2 (Youtube)

I love thinking about Aliens when I am stoned, staring into space thinking about space and all the horrific and beautiful creatures that could be hanging out in the murky blackness. Kurzegesagt is a German studio that makes educational content with really stylish animation and a gentled-toned narrator. They have lots of great well-researched, often trippy videos about everything from warring ant empires to arguments for cannabis legalization, but the Fermi paradox series is my favorite - just a great trippy and well-researched watch for some good ole’ stoned pondering.
