The Ultimate Dispensary Tour: 5 of the Best Gems you need to Explore in Maine

They don't call it vacationland for nothing, Maine in addition to being an excellent spot to relax in all 4 seasons also has some of the best locally grown bud I’ve ever had the pleasure of smoking so here are 5 of my favorite spots when I’m up north.

1. Sweet Dirt (Bridgton, Maine)

If you’ve ever bought gummies in Maine you’ll recognize this name. Sweetdirt has locations in Portland, Rockland, Waterville, and Bridgton and is especially known for its edibles which are sold in other dispensaries all over the state. They also have their own cartridges, concentrates, and of course, flower— all organically grown and sustainably produced. I love the look of the Bridgton Location, very natural, lots of light, and greenery, super cozy vibes. Check it out if you’re in the area.

2. Hi-Lo Dispensary (Poland, Maine)

One of my favorites, right off of Rte-26, I always pass it and always stop on my way north. The prices, selection, and service are fantastic— and you can expect expert guidance from the staff. Also, great glassware! I’ve gotten some of my favorite pieces here, a bowl that looks like a frying pan with an egg, a lava lamp bubbler, and a handmade ashtray all at great prices. Highly recommended.

3. The Stoned Moose (Bethel, Maine)

The Stoned Moose and adjacent medical dispensary Moosehead Farms were among the earliest dispensaries to open when Maine legalized cannabis in 2016. Boasting a huge selection of competitively-priced, homegrown, and high-quality weed— they are conveniently located right across the street from Sunday River Brewing Company so you can get a donut and burger when the munchies hit.

4. The Healing Community MEDCo (Newry, Maine)

MEDCo, formally House of Ganja, gets the ringing endorsement of best in the state from my mom who raves about Kelly the budtender. MEDCo is a small storefront located inside the Barking Dog grocery store and Italian deli a perfect one-stop shopping destination on your way home from a big day of Skiing at Sunday River or your way to one of the many nearby swimming holes. The staff here is incredibly friendly and happy to help you pick out flower, edibles, or concentrate you need to get the exact high you’re looking for. They have different specials for flower, edibles concentrate or peripherals for each day of the week so there is frequently a deal to help you get the most out of your trip.

5. SeaWeed Co (Portland, Maine)

SeaWeed Co is a Maine-owned and operated cannabis company that has two recreational stores open in Portland and South Portland. Their emphasis is on wellness, relaxation, and tranquil vibes and their products certainly match. The SeaWeed Banana Cream Cartridge I had was one of the best I had ever used and lasted months without seizing up as some lesser cartridges often do. They are very transparent about their process providing information about how they make all their products online including recipes using their products. It is a great spot to check out if you're in the Portland area and one of the few dispensaries you can visit without leaving the city.
